The city of Tabriz is one of the largest cities in Iran and is strategically bordering Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey. It is known for producing very fine rugs with a knotting density of over 1mio/ sqm.

Tabriz rugs are mostly made of short-pile wool. Their design is dominated by a central medallion whose surroundings are decorated with floral garden motifs, yet there are also portraits of palaces and ruins or of famous poets of Persian culture.
